ERI Media Policy

ERI is encouraged to make appropriate use of media releases as a means of raising awareness about its work and issues of concern.
The Executive Director is authorised to issue statements on behalf of ERI in consultation with the Executive Committee of the Board.
If approached by the media for comment about a relevant issue, the Executive Director is to respond according to the following procedure:-
- indicate the willingness of ERI to co-operate with the media to answer questions about the work of ERI;
- request that questions be submitted in writing to the Executive Director; and
- Provide a written response to the questions as soon as possible after first consulting and seeking approval of the Executive Committee of the Board.
On the sensitive issue of abuse (should a question arise) it is recommended that the advice of those with experience of dealing with the media on this issue be sought.
